Bonus post: here’s another gourmet burger to add to your repertoire!  Keep this one in mind alongside jalapeno cheddar stuffed burgers, or the juicy lucy burger. With these three burgers on your menu, you’re sure to impress!  This is definitely a different twist on a classic burger, but really the main difference is the ground lamb. Everything else I typically have in my pantry.

Make sure that you don’t over-mix the lamb, because you won’t want it to be tough. We served this with garlic butter roasted carrots and actually used what was left of the garlic butter in the pan to butter the buns, and then we toasted them up real good!  Recipe for the carrots to follow in the next few weeks~

Tzatziki Sauce for Greek Lamb Burgers @ bestwithchocolate.com

The tzatziki sauce is really a must for this burger because what goes better with lamb?  It’s so easy and really not hard, so you have no excuse!  If you have time and are using dried dill instead of fresh, I definitely recommend mixing the yogurt and dill early and allowing it to sit in the fridge a while when preparing other things. It really draws out the flavor of the dill and adds much more depth. Despite tzatzikitraditionally being a “cucumber and yogurt” sauce, I’m not a huge fan of a bunch of cucumber in my tzatziki, so I only grated a little bit.  If I had a full sized food processor and could chop it up finer, I’d probably like it better.  But for now, this’ll do!

Another must-have topping is French fries!  Actually, not really, the burger was just as yummy when my french fries fell off, but I liked the little traditional nod to Greek food, as mentioned in the original post by Nicole at Cooking for Keeps. Since gyros are typically served with french fries in Greece, why not put them on top of your burger?  We used some seasoned fries from a bag of frozen ones, same as the original poster, and it worked out great!  They were crisp and added an extra flavor and dimension to the burger, though definitely not a huge loss if you decide to skip on that one thing. french fries never reheat properly, so we just nommed the rest and I left them off the burger when reheating leftovers at work the next day.
