So this past weekend we got to see Hamilton at the Kennedy Center! If you happen to have been living under a rock and have no idea what I’m talking about, it’s a 2h 45min musical about Alexander Hamilton and the other founding fathers culminating in the duel where Aaron Burr killed Hamilton. It’s got insanely catchy music, fusing hip hop, R&B, pop, soul, and rap, and color-casts non-white actors with deliberation. It’s a crazy piece of history, both in the telling and the making, and it’s also just good old fun. The Kennedy Center production we saw was amazing.…

Gotta love date night! Or in the case of this weekend, date day! Tyler has planned some really thoughtful dates recently, like our getaway tiny house cabin weekend, and I’ve been doing weight watchers so I was trying to think of something less food-centric, so we went to see a show at the Kennedy Center: How to Succeed in Business Without Even Trying. I thought it was about time that I shared another review, it’s Ted’s Bulletin that’s up! We went there for breakfast with a group of friends before hitting up the Herndon Escape room (apparently I’ve gone enough that they recognize my name now…hah). So with Tyler’s crazy 4-days-a-week business trips, we’ve done much better on the date night front when he’s home! There’s still plenty of new places to explore, and Firebirds was on a recommended list by a coworker that lives in the area. It’s a cozy, somewhat swank place with a wide-variety of menu items. Plus they have happy hour every day (including weekends) and weekday happy hour goes until 7 which makes it ideal for date night! I’ve been meaning to make it up to Boston for some time to visit a few friends in the area, and it finally happened! It was a jam-packed weekend, but jam-packed with fun so it flew by. Potomac Point Winery is down south of NoVA, rather than west like a lot of other wineries we frequent. We were actually looking at it as a possible wedding venue, though jury’s out if it’ll make the cut! It’s a gorgeous property, and not too bad to find. I wasn’t sure what I was going to think of Big Cork when we went.
