brunch review: ted’s bulletin

February 16, 2018Katie

I thought it was about time that I shared another review, it’s Ted’s Bulletin that’s up!  We went there for breakfast with a group of friends before hitting up the Herndon Escape room (apparently I’ve gone enough that they recognize my name now…hah).  But this was a deeeelish pre-Escape Room snack!  And we did escape…I’m just saying.  It did take us a while to get seated since there were 6 of us and they only do call-ahead reservations which was a little frustrating since we ended up being a couple minutes late the escape room, but it all worked out.

My dish was the “Walk of Shame” Breakfast Burrito, and while I wasn’t walking in shame, I sure was eating a guilty pleasure!  My biggest complaint was the size!  It was just too big to be a good size and of course I just couldn’t leave any of that deliciousness on the table.

One of our friends got the chicken and biscuits and it was delicious.  The chicken was moist and the biscuits flaky although I have had better biscuits.  I think the one complaint for this dish was it wanted a little sauce or something to tie the dish together, but it disappeared pretty quick, so obviously it wasn’t a deal breaker.

My goodness, I need to interrupt myself here and make mention of the Escape Room we did!  We go over to Herndon Escape Room a bunch because they have a very immersive experience, but when I booked this one (Room 213), I didn’t realize it had a scary theme!  There was a creepy doll, writing on the wall, poison, and BODY BAGS.  And guys, ONE OF THE BODY BAGS MOVED.  I refused to go near it.  But if you’ve never done an escape room I highly recommend the Herndon Escape Room!  Currently they have a Star Wars themed room and a Supervillan themed room if you’re nerdy like us!  It’s a good thing I ate a good breakfast because I don’t think I could have handled creepy on an empty stomach.

Tyler went for the biscuits and gravy, and I wish I had taken a picture when he was done, because there wasn’t a speck of food left on that plate!  It was quite tasty, although I think it didn’t hurt that he was hungry.  The food was all around solidly good.   Would definitely order the burrito again, and I appreciate the level of crispness on the hash browns. Definitely a repeat contender, a solid 4 out of 5, but there are some other places that if I’m looking for an EGGceptional brunch and am willing to travel, I would gravitate to over this place: brunch review: copperwood tavern; or brunch review: penn commons; For a local, easy-to-get-to restaurant in our area, I’d say we’d definitely go back.
