Thick and decadent sausage gravy slathered over homemade or storebought biscuits–nobody’s judging!
I’m on a comfort food kick at the moment. And what says comfort more than sausage gravy over biscuits? Not much, in my opinion. And I never knew how easy it was to make! It’s a quick and easy breakfast, although being the Yankee I am, I’m not sure that I consider “biscuits and gravy” a meal on its own. I feel like it needs a main protein, although in this recipe I go heavy on the sausage to make up for that.
Of course, I never actually had biscuits and gravy (or even chicken and waffles) until I moved down to VA. Which still amuses me because Northern VA isn’t even that far south. But I can say that it’s made tasty new foods accessible to me! And for that I’ll forever be grateful.
I like adding a splash of hot sauce to the pan for an extra bit of bite, but of course, personal preference rules all. And you already can tailor some of the spice depending on which kind of breakfast sausage you purchase–anything from mild to super duper spicy! So put on that bathrobe, grab those biscuits and whip yourself up a batch of comfort like no other!
