My name is Katie and I’m a software engineer by day, cooking fiend by night! Or at least I’m an eating fiend. I’m very good at that, you can take my word for it. This is me eating some caramel ice cream on a trip to France! Don’t let this picture fool you though, I’ve been a Northern Virginia local since I graduated from Bucknell University in 2013, so you’ll find that most of my reviews are centered around the D.C. metropolitan area. But I also share my culinary adventures with you, as well as some more far reaching events!
When I graduated from college, I decided that if I was going to spend the rest of my life eating (which I fully intend to do), then I might as well find some tasty recipes! I look for recipes anywhere I can find them: pinterest, cooking shows, family recipes, or even friendly recommendations (send me one!). I type them up on recipe cards so that I can print them out and throw them in plastic sleeves in binders to keep them safe from the hurricane mess that usually is my kitchen.
My boyfriend T can attest to that hurricane! He’s the one who usually gets stuck cleaning up after my cooking, and he’s a sweetheart about it! He’s my partner in crime for stuffing our faces, playing video games, going out to brunch, or just relaxing after work. We also have an adopted crazy pup named Kenichi. He’s a shiba inu, and a handful, but keeps us in shape and isn’t that cute little face worth it? (Don’t tell him I said that, it’ll go to his cute head.)
Unfortunately, I have a huge list of interests, and not enough time in the day to do everything! Some of my favorite things to do are cook, write fantasy novels, scrapbook, hike (especially with the pup), travel, craft, read, play board games, socialize with friends, throw themed parties, and play volleyball! Phew! I also volunteer as the Marketing Advisor for my old college sorority and am part of the media team at DC Shiba Inu Rescue (where we adopted Kenichi~). It’s a wonderful life, and while sometimes, yes, it does get a little LOT crazy, we’re all just trying to get through life one day at a time. And why not take that day with some chocolate and a drink in hand?
